Purposeful India

Have you ever wondered why people were happier and more satisfied years ago ? I have wondered, thought, read and analysed so much about it. There were multiple reasons and factors- economic, social, personal, spiritual- which are different today . But in this whole analysis I have found one thing constant. Happiness and satisfaction depends more on the purpose in life rather than the external factors.

People back then had a purpose and mostly a non monetary meaningful purpose. They spent their time and energy on that one purpose and therefore other things did not bother them much. They knew what they had to do. They had their clarity and stand in every situation.

Like people even community has a life. Like Jawaharlal Nehru said in The Discovery of India, every country has a life-it is born, develops, grows. So every community needs a purpose too. That purpose was somehow lost in India.

The Indian community united for independence from the British. Then it developed and grew. But the path to growth was not defined by a meaningful purpose. This quintessential point was probably missed out by our previous leaders. They worked but didn’t give a purpose to the citizens to work for. And that’s what Narendra Modi has done.

He has given a purpose to the lost Indian community. It was the swachh Bharat abhiyaan first. In every nook and corner of the country people got out of their homes to clean their villages, towns and cities. Everyone from a chaprasi to the owner was on streets- thinking, discussing and actually cleaning the surroundings. And now he has done it again with the 500/1000 bombshell.

Everyone is thinking, discussing and actually trying to make white money. From small coconut water vendors, tailors, barbers, cobblers, homemakers, bankers, professionals, millionaries, billionaries everybody is busy organising, re-organising their patterns of working. All have a new purpose now- to judiciously earn and utilise their money. All are united once again.

Thanks to Narendra Modi !!!
